The Log4j vulnerability
For the critical vulnerability in the Log4j logging library (CVE-2021-44228), an elevated warning level (level "red") was declared by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on 12 December 2021. Since Java programming and thus also the use of the Log4j library are very widespread, attackers can exploit this vulnerability and hack servers of companies, authorities and banks with minimal effort. The dangerous thing is that the vulnerability is very easily accessible, so countless IT systems around the world are at risk. You can read more about this in the official statement of the BSI.
